The parallels were already pretty obvious, Dirk with the same glasses and manime sword as Kamina, Roxy using sniper rifles like Yoko, Jake being a childlike potential-filled Page and Dirk’s “Bro” very much like Simon, with the happy Princess Nia (Heiress Jane) as his eventual destined love interest, et cetera. (All depicted in the old fanart above.) It was still all coincidence, though; we still assumed that Andrew had never taken time to decide and see the anime (Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann), ever, not since the early days of Homestuck when he said he hadn’t and the Bro stuff was a coincidence.
